Flatbox

The Flatbox is our empty livingroom, remade for A Week In Stockholm. With the Flatbox, we would like to give larpers an opportunity to experience and work with a form of larp that is dear to us - the black box. Check out our site!

Web: http://bit.ly/flatbox

Workshop workdays

We have all the necessary tools for meaningful workshops: white board, black box, projector, meeting room. If there is interest we'd like to use the days for some serious larp business (narrativistic, black boxish, jeep formish, tape larpish 'cause thats how we do it). We do not have a schedule for this. Rather, the contents of these workshops will be entirely dependent on the participants.

This is a part of what we would like to contribute with to the "A Week In..."-concept. While its nice to tour the host city and party with larp friends, it can also be an intensive "in depth"-treatment of larp

Saturday

House Warmings and realising that you're in Stockholm.

You've just arrived in Stockholm. Hit the cold side of reality and found your lovely host, its time to settle in.

Sit down, relax and get to know each other. (Again?) Grab a tea or why don't you open that bottle of spirits

and make an early start of it all?

Nordic Larp Talks

Nordic Larp Talks is a series of short, entertaining, thought-provoking and mind-boggling lectures about projects and ideas from the Nordic tradition of live action roleplaying games.

The event is produced by games producer and social commentator Andie Nordgren and hosted by journalist and games critic Johanna Koljonen, who will also give the introductory talk. The talks are aimed at cultural producers and the general arts audience and do not require previous knowledge of game design or gamer culture. The event is in English.

Sunday

A Night in the Box

Two short stories back to back

A Night in the Box premiered on Knutepunkt 2009 and is a collection of two separate, one-and-a-half hour long black box scenarios played back to back. "A Place for Me to Rest" is a dreamy open-ended experience entirely focused on the "monologue room" method. "Beyond the Mountains of Madness" is a Lovecraftian black box version of Chaosiums role playing campaign of the same name. The two games shows two very different ways to solve the concept of "story" in the black box.

Monday

Guided tour of Stockholm

You'll get the chance to see Stockholm form a different perspektiv guide focusing on the special parts of Town and, of course, complete with a secret Theme. Come prepared to walk quite a bit and to use your imagination!

KGB

At night we'll meet up at the Pub KGB grab a beer and hang out. A classic from week 2006.

The Kick Inside (premiere)

A pleasant ghost story in jeepform

"The Kick Inside" is a black box scenario about a man that goes to his family’s old cabin to write his memoirs. It follows classic jeepform and is firmly rooted in the narrative tradition. As usual when we do stuff, the scenario is method heavy and much of the actual narration is put in the hands of the players. No secrets.

(Will also be played at Knutpunkt)

Tuesday

We're starting to feel the effects of a couple of long nights but are still going strong.

Now even more larpers have arrived and the day is once again filled with exploring Stockholm,

taking a nice walk along the shore and find the inner geek. This is also called suggestion night!

Guided tour of the geek place of Stockholm - The Sci-Fi book store

Find your inner geek at the heart of Stockholm, our finest book store in the middle of the old town.

We'll meet at the "Gamla stan" subway station at 12:00.

Of course there're heaps of games and comics. And cause your guide isn't from Stockholm there's a possibity to get horribly lost. Guide: Johannes Axner (email: johannes.axner@gmail.com, phone: +46709597005)

Also how does this work with the original schedule of Onnis "find your inner geek"-concept?

It is a long game. We did it in 4 hours at Prologue, but that was a bit too short, we would need 5 hours the least.

I also would like to be able to invite Stockholm residents who are at work to come after work.

We will serve dinner during the game.

It can accomodate 20 players, but can easily be run with 10-12 also.

Wednesday

Jeepform Games (19:00—)

"Vi åker jeep" gives you some of their greatest games at "Betahaus" on Skeppsbron 30. We will gather there at 19, and then see what games we're going to play depending on how many people show up. There will be a couple of jeeps ready to run a large selection of games. The games are 2–5 hours for 3–8 players. Look here for more.

Some examples of games we are bringing include:

  • The Journey — Fredrik Axelzon's award-winning game about a dark, silent post-apocalyptic future
  • Growing Up — an adaptation of Jane Austen's book Sense and Sensibility
  • Previous Occupants — Previous Occupants is a ghost thriller where the players play the events of two different timelines in parallel, one story of young trustful love and sexual exploration set against a bitter distrustful marriage that ends in violence and disaster
  • Fat Man Down — an abusive game about society's treatment of fat people
  • Doubt — about love, relationships and what infidelity means
  • The Upgrade! — go on a cruise on the loveboat and see if your relationship has what it takes
  • Happy Ends — why is it so hard to play stories that are uplifting? Let us try to make you happy!
  • Lives Births Deaths — "Life is a constant struggle to meet your mortgage obligations at the same time as you are helping your parents with Windows, and in the middle of it all your expected to find time for 'living.'"
  • Drunk — about the struggle of a family to make things right, and the difficulties of doing so

The Family Andersson

A contemporary drama with time pressure.

The Family Andersson is a short game for 8-10 participants.  The game is about a group of siblings who have gathered in the home of their recently deceased parents to discuss the inheritance. The focus is on exploring relationships between family members and testing how a game functions when more than one players act the same part.
