Contribute

What do I contribute with?

The participant of Knutpunkt 2010 are expected to contribute to the event with something. This can be a larp, a scenario, documenting the event, a workshop, a social activity, a lecture or something else entirely. What ever you think would make Knutpunkt 2010 better.

We encourage contributors to submit something interactive where the participants are co-creators and not only audience. Of corse talks are accepted as contributions, but we would just like to encourage people to think one extra time before doing a speak so it is not default. So instead of talking about you new gaming technique - let people try it out in a workshop and people might remember it and use it at home. Since we are all larpers we think participation is fun.

We also want to encourage recycling. If you played a great game in your country, or been at a workshop, take the concept and do it at KP. With people from 20 countries there are a lot that haven't played it before.

If you are a first-time Knutpunktgoer, you don't need to contribute to the programme since your fresh perspective is enough in itself. However, if you want to contribute, it will make us even happier!

Co-hosting

You can also contribute by acting as co-host with someone else. Many workshops or games need more hosts than one so do not hesitate to join together in groups when hosting an item in the programme. Naming your extra hands as co-hosts on your item is  helpful for the organisers when we build the programme for Knutpunkt 2010 since it prevents us from timing two events hosted by the same person at the same time.

Games

larp TKLarping and role-playing is about getting out of the couch and onto the stage and trying things out. Only talking about your ideas will not prove if they are valid and trying them out might lead to the birth of new ideas. What better ways of explaining the type of games you and your friends play are there than letting others play them? If you haven't made a game yourself that you want to contribute with you can always borrow someone else's game that you played a few years back. There will definitely be participants who haven't played it before or who would like to try it out again.

A game on Knutpunkt 2010 can be a fully-fledged half-day larp, an hour long freeform role-playing scenario, an experimental experience in the cellar vaults, and whatever else that you can come up with.

Workshops

FightA workshop is an event emphasizing interaction and exchange of information among a group ofparticipants. Typically the host has some topic she wants to explore by trying stuff out with the participants. On Knutpunkt we consider anything interactive and active that is not a game a workshop. It can be an acting techniques exercise, a larp financial management workshop (if it invites the participants to contribute and learn by doing, otherwise it might be a spoken event), a renaissance dance training workshop or something completely different.

Documenting

Gabriel takes a pictureAnother way of contributing is to help document the event. Documentation can be in one of many ways: photography, blogging, writing articles, taking extensive notes made available after the event or something else. If you are interested in contributing by documenting Knutpunkt 2010 please contact our documentation coach for suggestions and guidlines.

The Larp Plaza

An addition to Knutpunkt 2010 will be the Larp Plaza. This event will be held in a large space where contributors, organisations, groups, larps, conventions, etc, will be given the oppertunity to display their topics all at the same time during a two hour Larp Plaza-session. This will resemble a fair or poster session but with the special flavors our participatory culture provides.

Talks and Panels

group listening

To promote the show-not-tell theme, talks and panels should not exceed 1 hour. Also, we ask you not to propose talks or panels without considering alternative ways of getting your point across, like doing a game, a collaborate workshop, etc. Larp promotions should be done at the Larp Plaza, and not as talks.
